Two General Electric ES44ACs have Iowa Interstate's daily Chicago-Blue Island to Council Bluffs road freight (BICB-10) hustling west at 40 miles per through white carpets of snow and frigid wind chill readings brought on by an earlier winter storm; sights set on South Amana where a crew change and set-out/pick-up will all take place. With today's consist headed by IAIS 513, dressed in classic red, black and white heritage livery, proud shades of the railroad's predecessor, the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific, represent this scene well as its 46-car train rolls past this iconic Rock Island depot, flanked by pieces of old signal memorabilia, situated in the small community of Wilton along the Iowa City Subdivision. The single-story brick structure was completed in the year 1898 and once was a main stop for a handful of CRI&P passenger trains before a decrease in service ultimately forced its closure in 1974. This old piece of railroad history, which sits at the the corner of Cherry and Railroad St in downtown, was rescued by the Wilton Historical Society and now serves as a small railroad museum and featured on the list of National Register of Historic Places.
