Is It Still An Alco? On the morning of November 19, 2021, Maryland & Delaware (MDDE) Alco RS3m 1203 (ex-CR 9942 [RS3M], exx-EL 1052, née-DLW 914, RS3, 3/1952) leads the turn from Federalsburg, Maryland to Seaford, Delaware as it approaches "SEA" and the end of Rule 98 territory near Wright Road in Federalsburg. From 1972-1978, Conrail rebuilt 98 Alco RS3s, replacing their Alco 244 prime mover with an EMD 567B. While few examples exist today, MDDE has 3 (1201-3) that operate regularly in revenue freight service.
