Grand Central Station Eagle. Instinctively, you just want to correct me to say Grand Central Terminal, but in this case you would be wrong. This 2 ton cast iron statue is one of (at least) 10 that adorned Grand Central Station between 1898 and 1910, itself a replacement for Grand Central Depot. Remember: Revenue service on the (New York and) Harlem Line didn't always end at 42nd Street.
This eagle was placed here shortly after the demolition of Grand Central Station, and was restored in 2019. |
