Were They Plotting This Move? Perhaps there was something the veteran EMDs knew on May 29, 2014 at the "Streamliners At Spencer" event at the N.C. Transportation Museum in Spencer, North Carolina as they sat next to each other that the rest of us did not. Former Chicago, Burlington & Quincy E5A 9911-A (Silver Pilot) as already part of the collection at the Illinois Railway Museum, but former Chicago & North Western E8A 5029-B was part of the Iowa Pacific fleet (dressed as IP 515 in the Illinois Central heritage scheme). On Monday, December 6, 2021, IRM announced the acquisition of 5029-B from the IP collection sale. It joins a robust roster of diesels and other rail equipment maintained at the Union, Illinois facility.
