The 1 meter gauge oilfired "Berkshire" 2-8-4 steamlocomotive # 3020 "NYATURU" (Tribal class 30) of the former East African Railways, now owned and operated by the Nairobi Railway Museum, is standing in Kijabe station on 2203 meter abobe sea level, with a steam charter for Geoff's Trains/Tanago from Naivahsa to Nairobi. 26 of this class were built in 1955 by the North British Locomotive Company (NBL) for the EAR and served their entire careers in Tanganyika/Tanzania, one of the three territories/countries served by the EAR. Unfortunately, this line was discontinued and demolished in 2020, replaced by a standard gauge line down in the valley, built by Kenya Railways Corporation with China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) being the primary contractor, as a continuation of the new Mombasa - Nairobi line opened in 2017.
