Doubledeck commuter train DPZ+ of the SBB, running as S 12 service 19270 from Schaffhausen via Winterthur-Zürich to Brugg AG, is crossing the 177 meter long bridge over the Rheinfall, built in 1856, between Neuhausen (left) and the stop of Schloss Laufen am Rheinfall (right, below the church). In this moment, about 400 m3 of water are falling down in a second (105'000 gallons per second). The blue illuminated Laufen castle was mentioned for the first time in 858. On the right is the several hundred years old reformed church of Laufen am Rheinfall, which has been rebuilt and extended several times, its present form dates largely from 1948, 2001 was the last renovation.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
