Remarks & Notes

Rare to find a shot on an as-built SOU -2. Note the “slick” roofline. SOU was the only major railroad and perhaps the only railroad to buy the -2s with oil bath air filters. After a very few years they adopted the industry standard paper filters and boxy housing appeared on the long hoods.
