"Lantern Girl" heads off to work. Carrying a large cache of kerosene-burning railroad lanterns, our PRR "Lantern Girl" leaves the J-Tower for the nearby yard, to distribute them among a railroad crew making preparations for departure.
This scene was an opportunity to re-create a historic photo of a female PRR employee distributing lanterns to railroad crews, which appeared in Time / Life Magazine. Our scene was created during a November, 2021 Historic Transport Preservation (HTP) photo shoot at Pennsylvania's Strasburg Rail Road, featuring the former Norfolk & Western M-Class 12-Wheeler #475, and the former Pennsylvania Railroad J-Tower, which sits at the west end of the Strasburg Yard.
