Rolling along the Arkansas River between Princeton and Granite, CO, SP 8703 leads CNW 6933 and DRGW 5410 on a Herington, KS to Oakland, CA auto train. The Tennessee Pass route was active for only a few months longer at this time. I had the good fortune to catch this westbound coming out of Royal Gorge and followed it to Tennessee Pass, to the general displeasure of my female companion at the time. But what else can one really do?
