The hot, and short, Alliance, TX to Stockton, CA UPS train races out of Cherokee Canyon as it approaches the control point of Cherokee on a windy, winter afternoon. As traffic volumes increase, BNSF has been installing on their 900s and 1000s series Dash-9s. As PTC is now a requirement for lead locomotives, it has been a nice sight to see these ageing locomotives get one last chance to lead trains on the rails they used to conquer.
