What’s this? A Utah Railway train in Kansas? When the Utah Railway stopped operating its line from Provo, over Soldier Summit to the Helper, Utah area their MK5000 locomotives became surplus. So, Utah’s owner, Genesee & Wyoming, transferred some of them to the Kyle Ry. in Kansas and eastern Colorado. Seen here is a colorful Kyle train with 2 of these MK5000’s eastbound thru the small town of Almena, KS., population 469.
