Sitting in Canadian Pacific’s Bensenville Yard are two I&M Rail Link (IMRL) SD45s. The I&M Rail Link, owned by the Washington Companies, operated 1,385 miles of trackage in the states of Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, and Wisconsin - hence the railroad's initials (although, apparently, they didn't think enough of Wisconsin to include a "W" in the name). The lines were acquired from the Canadian Pacific Railway, which were originally built by the Milwaukee Road and its predecessors, and operated from 1997 until 2002, at which point the railroad was sold to the Iowa Chicago & Eastern (which was later sold to Canadian Pacific - What goes around comes around. IMRL SD45 378 is the former Montana Rail Link 8941, And CSX Transportation 8941 before that. Before CSX, it was Seaboard System 8941, ex-Clinchfield 3628, and originally Seaboard Coast Line 2041. IMRL SD45 8905, meanwhile, has a heritage of MRL 8905, ex-VMV 8905, ex-CSXT 8905, SBD 8905, ex-SCL 2005 and was built as Atlantic Coast Line 1029. (Bensenville, Illinois - October 28, 1998)
