Amtrak train 4, the eastbound Southwest Chief, has power that might be more suited to its westbound counterpart, train 3. Amtrak P42DCs 3 and 33 are leading 6-car train 4 on this evening. AMTK 3 is looking a bit ragged, which isn't too unusual given its 25½ year age. This is the first stop after departing Los Angeles, and after the passengers are loaded the train will depart and cross from BNSF's San Bernardino Sub's Track 3 to Track 2. It should be able to make up its 16-minute late departure somewhere in the next 2,239 miles before it arrives in Chicago … but it also may not. Oops ... Nevermind. This train arrived in Albuquerque the next day 2 hours 18 minutes late, and departed ALB 6 hours 47 minutes late! And P42DC 3 is still in ALB as of January 25 with a damaged air valve.
