On Cinco de Mayo day in 2010, Mass Central EMD NW5 2100 and GP20 960 are returning from the CSX interchange with two cars in Palmer. The 960 was built for the Milwaukee Road in November of 1954 as a GP9 and is no longer active. The unique NW5 was built in January of 1947 for the Southern Railway. Only 13 were built by Electro-Motive Diesel, and 2100 was the only one rostered by Southern. Sometime after this photo was taken, the locomotive was stored by Mass Central. In late 2021, the locomotive received a fresh coat of paint in Boston & Maine's inspired McGinnis blue and white scheme.
