Remarks & Notes |
With engineers visible in the lead and third units, two SD40 head-end helpers and a pair of SD45’s pull a westbound Conrail train out of Altoona, Pennsylvania, about a mile east of Horseshoe Curve. It’s strange to think that one of the busiest railroads in the world had deteriorated to the point of having grass growing between its rails. Infusion of cash into the infrastructure would transform the railroad over the next few years. |
