Remarks & Notes
An empty sugar cane train is seen headed East across the Miami Canal bound for a loadout not far from here. The crew was spot the empty cars on the siding and then pick up the loads to bring back to Clewiston. The GP11 locomotive was built as a GP9 for the Illinois Central in January of 1957 as IC 9214. The Miami Canal drains Lake Okeechobee all the way down to the coast at Miami, hydrating dozens of sugar fields along the way.
