Originally a Santa Fe F9A, 282C, this locomotive was rebuilt by the Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe’s Cleburne TX Shops into a "round roof" CF7 (ATSF 2520) in May 1974, later getting rebuilt with the "squared roof." After being retired by the ATSF in January 1987, this engine was sold to locomotive dealer Rescar, who sold it to Oklahoma’s Hollis & Eastern (HE 2520). Sometime in the late 1990s or very early 2000s, the engine was sold to South Plains Lamesa (SLAL 2520) in the Lubbock TX area. By 2009 this engine showed up in the Transportation Services Inc. facility in Calera, Alabama, lettered for J&L Consulting Ltd. (JLCX 2520), where it was photographed (with permission and full PPE) on October 3, 2015.
