Picking Up The Orders. On Friday, March 11, 2022, Buffalo Southern's (BSOR) RS18u 1847 (ex-QGRY 1847, exx-CP 1847, née-CP 8752, RS18, MLW, 1958) arrives at the former Eden Center passenger station in Eden, NY. The conductor is ready to receive his orders from a railroad employee who has come out of the adjoining office as the veteran engine passes under a semaphore signal. After construction by the Buffalo & Jamestown (later Buffalo & Southwestern) to connect Buffalo, NY to Falconer, NY, the line was soon purchases by the Erie Railroad. It would last through Erie Lackawanna ownership into the Conrail era, but was deemed surplus to its system. In 1982, BSOR was incorporated to operate the line from its connection to the New York & Lake Erie in Gowanda, NY to Tifft Yard in Buffalo, NY, and continues to move a variety of freight products and tourist trains across its 32 miles.
