Gray Day On The Gray Granite. On Saturday, March 19, 2022, the Connecticut Trolley Museum held its Volunteer Appreciation Day at the Gray Granite Railroad (GGRR) at Cavanna's Farm in South Glastonbury, Connecticut. GGRR's 1903 35-ton Plymouth was brought out to be the power for the day, pulling the 3 car train of a converted 1903 New Haven Railroad box car and 2 former Long Island Rail Road cabooses. The Gray Granite Railroad is an original creation of the Cavanna Family to navigate portions of their farm, as there was no previous trackage at this location. In addition to this engine, the Gray Granite also owns a 25-ton GE which is operable, and an 0-4-0T which is presently undergoing maintenance.
