On September 28, 2021, Columbia Basin Railroad’s Connell turn approaches Bruce, Washington, powered by a pair of EMD SD9s. The day before, we chased St. Maries River Railroad’s GP9s on their train to Plummer, so it was nice to get pairs of vintage EMDs (albeit with high-hood noses lowered) two days in a row in a world of GEs. In fact, STMA GP9 Nos. 101 and 103, along with CBRW SD9 Nos. 608 and 171, have been in existence for a combined total of 250 years! Vintage indeed…
