In a view is from an impressive overlook in Grandad Bluff Park, Burlington Northern “Expediter” intermodal train 42 rolls past—actually through part of—the Forest Hills Public Golf Course at La Crosse, Wisconsin, on the morning of April 23, 1994. One of the few places (only?) that I know of that has a golf cart grade crossing to access the entire course from the clubhouse. Surely “fore” has been yelled as a ball went awry toward a train. And surely a nicely-timed blow of an airhorn from an engineer on a passing train messed up a shot or swing. Today, there is an underpass where one of the cart crossings used to be—but it still is a great place to mix in a little train watching while chasing around a little white ball.
