Pacific Harbor Line train YPSW24-05, the Reyes Switcher, backs down the PHL’s Wilmington Lead in the Wilmington neighborhood of Los Angeles, heading another 7 miles north in order to switch cars on the Union Pacific’s Reyes Spur in Compton. That seems like a long way for the train’s conductor to have to ride clutching the ladder on box car LRS 762, but he’ll get back in the cab once the locomotive leads the train down the spur nearly an hour later.
