On Sunday, June 19, 2022, Metro-North train 6918 encountered mechanical issues with Brookville BL20GH 112 while en route to Waterbury. The train broke down south of Derby Station. GP35R 106 came to the rescue and pushed the train to Derby to unload the stranded passengers. After the train was unloaded, the 106 shoved the disabled equipment into the passing siding at CP-509, which is just north of the station, to clear for the new mini-bomb set with the 115, which was holding at milepost 7. Once the 115 arrived and picked up its passengers, the train continued to Waterbury. Then the 106 pulled out of the siding to head south for Stamford Yard. MNCR GP35R 106 was built in 1964 for the Pennsylvania RR as their 2274. It pulled freight trains under Penn Central and Conrail before being acquired by Metro-North.
