H&K Group, Inc.'s two new former Norfolk Southern SD40-2's have been hard at work since their arrival in February of this year. #3549 was built for the Burlington Northern before being acquired by FURX. It later became a part of NS's fleet before being sold at auction to MVPX. The trailing unit #6164 is a ex Norfolk & Western SD40-2. The pair are seen pulling a loaded aggregate train to the interchange track from the load out at Birdsboro Quarry, formerly Birdsboro Materials. In the background is the F.M. Brown's Birdsboro Feed Mill.
These two units replaced the aging SD38's that were acquired by the Reading, Blue Mountain & Northern many years ago. The SD38's were parted out for use in other locomotives a few months ago.
