After staying cooped up inside all day due to a large storm system rolling through the area, I looked out the window around 6:45 in the evening and noticed the sun was starting to poke through the clouds. I immediately left the house in hopes of getting a nice storm light shot of P98 heading west, but arrived to see them already gone. However, P97 was still there and awaiting clearance over the Neuse River draw. I quickly drove across the water to Bridgeton in anticipation of a similar scene to my shot of E32 back in November. Standing at the edge of the marina in Bridgeton, I bore witness to one of the most surreal scenes I have ever encountered, with a double rainbow behind me and one of the most incredible sunsets possible setting the backdrop for 97's short consist of 2 tankers and 4 gondolas behind C6M #4155. I'm still in awe from this experience and am very fortunate to have gotten this lucky from just going out on a whim.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
