Orange You Glad You Saw These Cars? On April 29, 2017, a six-car Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority - MBTA Orange Line Train makes the stop at Assembly in Somerville, Massachusetts with class unit 01200 (Hawker-Siddeley, 1979-1981) leading. The car is part of a group of 120 65-foot cars that saw the transition on this line from when the elevated portion was still operating before being torn down and relocated to its current alignment. Assembly is MBTA's newest subway station, opened on September 2, 2014. Due to recent safety and equipment issues, MBTA announced a shut down of the Orange Line from 9:00 p.m. on August 19, 2022 until 5:00 a.m. on Sept. 19, 2022 in order to address issues that were identified in a recent Federal Transit Administration report. The Authority has stated that these cars will not return and service will be operated only with the new CRRC (2018-2023) built cars. Subsequently, it was also announced that Green Line service between the Government Center and Union Square stations in both directions from August 22, 2022 through September 18, 2022, and the opening of the new Medford Branch will be delayed.
