Railroading Hurts. On the scorching hot afternoon of August 11, 2021, Ouachita Railroad GMD1 (OUCH) 23 (née-CN 1055, GMD1, 10/1959) rests at the South Arkansas Intermodal Park in Camden, Arkansas. Of 101 units built between 1958-1960, 96 were delivered to Canadian National Railways and 5 to Northern Alberta Railways, also going to CN after NAR was acquired. CN retired its last GMD1 in April of 2021, and a small number survive today, including one restored at the Waterloo Central Railway. In the background, Camden & Southern (CSR) 20 (SW9, EMD) sits awaiting its next move.
