Remarks & Notes |
Street cars ran in uptown Charlotte until 1938 when they were replaced by a bus system. Nearly 80 years later, city leaders opened a new streetcar line that ran mostly along Elizabeth Avenue and connected to the still new light rail line at the transit center. They ran these replica trolley cars for the first few years of operation. But after an extension of the streetcar line, the trollies were replaced by newer, more modern street cars. The replica trolley cars were sold to the Memphis transportation Authority. |
