An empty Union Pacific petcoke train slowly rolls through downtown Saint Paul, Minnesota and heads across the Mississippi River on the Roberts Street Lift Bridge. The power for the train takes the form of three CSX C40-8W's, which have been recently brought out of storage and are on the UP to repay horsepower hours. The lift bridge, built in 1913, features a Pratt Through Truss vertical lift span that is approached by eight deck girder spans on the south end. UP is currently in the process of submitting applications and developing plans for the replacement of the structure.
