Atlantic Coast Line 501 is an EMC E3 diesel locomotive built in November 1939 for the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad. ACL 501 was a sole EMC E3 survivor, but was rebuilt as a E6 before being sold off. It was retired and sold to NCTM in 1999. It grew its reputation pulling the Champion, hence the big "Champion" logo posted on the nose. Definitely worth a look if you're around the Spencer area in NC. |
