An operation you had to want to see to get to it. Totally isolated from the rest of North America's rail system once roamed the Black Mesa & Lake Powell, delivering coal loads around the clock from the Peabody Energy Kayenta Mine to the Navajo Generating Station at Page, a total of 78 miles. The electrified line was run primarily by ex-NdeM GE E60Cs. At the end of the summer 2019, the last loads were mined and the railroad shut down. The electric components were taken down, but I understand the rails were left in place for potential future use.
