Another Reading Northern: After spending the morning observing 2102 put on a grand performance in the second-to-last of the year's "Rambles", it was bittersweet to find myself standing beside the loco's long-silenced sibling, T1 No. 2124, later that same afternoon. Though well-cared for and lovingly preserved, it was all too clear just what this powerful machine was once capable of. Posed beside some of the very diesels that helped bring about its silence, it now stands as a marker of the force of technological progress.
