Cogwheel locomotive HGe 4/4 II # 105 of the Matterhorn-Gotthard-Bahn (MGBahn), built in 1985 for the SBB Brünig line, then in 1990 taken over by the Furka-Oberalp-Bahn (FO), is pulling the regional train 824 of the line R 45 from Andermatt over the Oberalp pass to Disentis, between Andermatt and Nätschen. This is one of the locomotive which has just undergone the large refit program for 9 of the 13 HGe 4/4 II series, done in the industrial works of the SBB in Bellinzona. The phase angle control has beene replaced by a three-phase drive with modern IGBT converters and asynchronous motors. In addition, the machines received new control technology, a new train protection system, fire alarm systems, adaptations in the driver's cab and a carbody refurbishment.
