Turning the Quebec-Montreal-Ottawa corridor trains in Montreal can be cumbersome and time consuming: This Quebec to Ottawa train came in over the Victoria bridge and entered Central through the leg of the wye in the far right background (under the REM aerial structure). After making the stop at Central, it backs out of the station all the way back to the Victoria bridge. Our VIA 33, already half an hour late, now had to wait another 10 minutes until a westbound CN freight cleared the junction, advance over the junction onto the bridge, and then finally continue along Point-St-Charles yard, past the EXO shops, onto CN's Montreal Sub... overall lengthy 45 minutes just to make the stop in Montreal.
