No Electric Required. The most recent delivery of Kawasaki built MTA Metro-North Railroad M8 cars arrived in Croton on CSX Train M701-07 on September 8, 2022. These four M8s (N/W-9729-9728-9734-9735-S/E) are the latest part of a an order of dual-mode (third rail/overhead wire) passenger Electric MUs that have replaced the entire fleet. Beginning with the first arrival of M8s in 2010 to replace M2s, each additional arrival initially displaced older cars, then added to fleet capacity. The latest group also adds to the roster to support the use of M8s on Shore Line East Service which began in May, 2022.
