Remarks & Notes
SP 2539 was the first SW1500 painted in the merger red and yellow scheme early in 1986. It was assigned to San Francisco, where this photo was taken on August 23, 1987. This scheme was short lived however, as many changes were to take place before a standard scheme was obtained for the switchers. A later variation of the merger scheme is worn by SP SW1500 #2575. Gone are the red nose strips, large red SP style numbers, large initials, small "SP" between the number boards and yellow cab sides. The newer scheme also features an exaggerated yellow warbonnet.
