Remarks & Notes
Cogwheel steamlocomotive HG 3/3 # 1068 of the Brünig Dampfbahn (former Ballenberg Dampfbahn) is tackling the 12.0 % grade from Meiringen up to Brünig-Hasliberg with a public steamtrain for the very first time since decades, crossing the Hüsenbach bridge. The 0-6-0 T locomotive was built by the SLM Winterthur in 1926 for the 1 meter gauge Brünig line of the SBB, with Riggenbach rack system. In 1965 the steam traction on the Brünig line Lucerne-Meiringen-Interlaken Ost was officially terminated and the locomotive was put on display beside the station building in Meiringen. In 2000, the Ballenberg Dampfbahn was able to buy the locomotive from the SBB. From 2019 to spring 2022 the RhB workshop in Landquart rebuilt the HG 3/3 # 1068 operational again. There were several test runs in june and july on the line, which belongs to the Zentralbahn now. But the high wild fire risk in summer 2022 inhibited several planned joureys with the "new" locomotive, so this was the very first trip and the locomotive was adorned with flowers.
