The vintage "Grossdale" depot stands proud on this calm September night, watching traffic comprised of both Metra commuters and BNSF freights pass by on the BNSF Chicago Subdivision "Racetrack" behind me. This station was built in 1889 for the city of Grossdale (which became Brookfield 16 years later), established by Samuel Eberly Gross, and stood on the Racetrack overseeing commuter operations until it was moved across the tracks to the north side in 1981, now filled with artifacts of Brookfield's local history.
A recent spike in a personal interest of the skill and work it takes to create and ultimately nail a shot in the dark using flash technology, leads to this album.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
