“Hammerhead” Western Maryland Scenic’s freshly-painted B32-8 made its second revenue trip—this time long hood forward—on September 23rd, hauling the Frostburg Flyer, seen here climbing the 1.75% grade through Slabtown.
The locomotive is leased from NIWX Corporation, and was painted in WMSR’s adaptation of WM’s Fireball scheme at the company’s shops in Ridgeley, WV. The unit’s heritage is NIWX 558 < NS 558 < NS/SOU 3558. A broadside view is available at Photo 812927.
The Western Maryland Railway signal bridge marks the east end of the former double track between Mt. Savage Interlocking and Frostburg Interlocking (WM mp 181.4).
From a hint of "Bee" (NKP 765), colorful "Bees" (KCS), "Bees" w/ "attitude", to "Bees" that "sting" your eyes, in their own way they have "Bee" on display! Equipment that "Buzzes" with Yellow & Black colors! ("Bees" can still "Bee" entering this "hive"!)
