Remarks & Notes |
West South Draw
South Draw is a horse shoe curve situated behind the Flat Irons on the other side of Eldorado Mountain in Eldorado Canyon. It is the 3rd set of horse shoe curves beginning with Big Ten above Arvada and the the horse shoe at Coal Creek Canyon on the Moffat Road to East Portal. Amtrak 5 in this frame is ascending the 2 percent past tunnel 16 exiting the last curve out of the tangent. The foot hills below the Great Divide are very prominent here and easily show the immensity of Moffat’s Dream, in every sense of the word an engineering marvel. |
