Four SD40-2's roll a westbound quickly through the curves of the slight line relocation west of Cobden, MN that was the result of an overpass replacement project back in Dakota, Minnesota & Eastern days. This heavier, welded rail and subsequent higher speeds were only a pipe dream in the days of Chicago & North Western's "ALCO Line." There were talks off and on for years of upgrading this line all the way across South Dakota and building an extension into the Powder River Basin, but that's not likely to happen now. This short stretch of track gives a little glimpse of what might have been, though.
