W o r l d R e c o r d ! The Rhaetian Railway achieved the world record (entry in the Guinness Book of Records made) for the longest passenger train in the world on October 29, 2022. 25 coupled "Capricorn" trains of 4 cars each, a total of 100 passenger cars with a length of 1906 meters, traveled over the UNESCO World Heritage route of the Albula Railway from Preda via Bergün and Filisur to Alvaneu, a distance of 24.9 kilometers. The train had a weight of 2990 tons, 35000 horsepowers, was driven by 7 locomotive drivers, crossed 48 bridges including the famous Landwasser Viaduct and went through 22 tunnels. The train climbed 789 meters in altitude (descent). Here the train (part of....) can be seen on the loops above Bergün, watched by about 3000 people. This world record for the longest passenger train in the world was also a contribution by the Rhaetian Railway to the celebrations of 175 years of Swiss Railways.
