| The ORIENTAL DESERT EXPRESS from Oujda to Bourfa with locomotives DH # 421 and # 430 is leaving the mainline near Beni Oukil and is heading south towards Guenfouda-Ain Beni Mathar-Tendrara-Bourfa. The train circulated the third time in 2022 on this day. Looking out of the car is Edi Kunz, a swiss living in Morocco and inventor of this train through the desert about 15 years ago. Today, he is guest on "his" train. The line was built between 1925 and 1931 and was intended to go as far as the Niger, but was never completed. There is no regular freight nor passenger service on the line (south of Guenfouda) since about the 1960'. |
