Remarks & Notes
A pair of Metro-North SPV-2000s move through the yard adjacent to the Croton-Harmon shop. Budd assembled only 31 examples of this decidedly unsuccessful successor to the well-received Rail Diesel Car between 1978 and 1981. At the time these units may have still been operating in shuttle service between Croton-Harmon and Poughkeepsie on the Hudson Line. Their nickname of Seldom Powered Vehicles was certainly well-earned, as the years were not kind to these unique pieces of equipment.
