Clinchfield’s Concluding Caboose. The Clinchfield Railroad Museum’s donation and the subsequent transportation of the last caboose commissioned by the Clinchfield Railroad (CRR 1111) to the Town of Unicoi Tourist Information Center for display was a well planned and executed move that involved both of these groups as well as CSX, and the Watauga Valley Railroad Historical Society. This bay window caboose was built in 1981 by FGE in Alexandria, Virginia, it continued its career under the Seaboard System/Family Lines and CSX Railroad. ?After a display track was constructed, on February 28, 2020, it was moved from the CSX Yard in Erwin, Tennessee to its new home at the Town of Unicoi Tourist Information Center, where it has since been repainted and restored, as seen on the night of Sunday, November 20, 2022.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
