Sixties Subway Special. On Sunday November 27, 2022, the NY Transit Museum ran the first day of their Holiday Nostalgia Rides for the 2022 holiday season! Unlike previous years, the event switched to the former Interborough Rapid Transit (IRT) lines using the museum's "Train of Many Colors," which features a variety of cars manufactured in the 1960s wearing various paint schemes from throughout their service lives. R33 no. 9069 (St. Louis Car Co., 1962-1963) is the lead motor on the train as it arrives at 72nd St Station on the IRT Broadway-7th Avenue Line. The car and "Green Machine" mate 9068 are painted Kale Green, which was used briefly in the 1980s. The full consist included: R33 no.s 9068 / 9069 (St. Louis Car Co., 1962-1963) in "Kale Green" paint; R33 no.s 9010 / 9011 (St. Louis Car Co., 1962-1963) in "Platinum Mist" paint; R33WF no.s 9307 / 9308 (St. Louis Car Co., 1963) in "Bluebird" paint; R36WF no.s 9586 / 9587 (St. Louis Car Co., 1963-1964) in "Gunn Red" paint; R33 no.s 9016 / 9017 (St. Louis Car Co., 1962-1963) in "Tartar Red" paint.
