“The End of the Beginning” Manned helper BAYL 3065 shoves on the rear of 30 Lehigh Cement loads (roughly 4200 tons) as UBHF plies west through Graceham, en route to the CSX interchange at Highfield, on a brilliantly clear summer morning. On the head end are one GP38-3 (MMID 2060) and two SD40-2s (MMID 3451, 3450).
GP40 BAYL 3065, acquired from sister G&W property Bay Line Railroad, is no stranger to the former Western Maryland Railway East Sub, having begun life in 1971 as WM 3798.
