Freshly repainted into a new scheme, Alco C424 2400 brings up the south end of the Adirondack Scenic Railroad's Santa Train on a windy Saturday night in Utica, New York. The train runs over the Mohawk, Adirondack & Northern crossing over the Erie Canal on a truss bridge as it heads towards its own track at Remsen.
New York state has the largest number of ALCO diesel locomotives working in everyday service. Here are some of them. Soon I hope to chronicle all of them.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
