Canadian National GMD1 No. 1421, along with GP9RM No. 7055, switch the grain elevators along Low Level Road at North Vancouver, British Columbia, on September 26, 2001. The locomotive is essentially a switcher with a lengthened frame providing space for an SW1200 hood, cab and a custom short nose. Some GMD1s were fitted with A-1-A six-wheel Flexicoil trucks—while others, like No. 1421—were equipped with two-axle Flexicoil trucks.
