| Iowa Traction #51 sits under a starry Iowa sky, illuminated by the lights of the AGP Mason City plant. The steam and exhaust from the plant is streaking in the background in this eight second exposure. AGP is Iowa Traction's biggest customer and receives daily service. Iowa Traction normally keeps one of their motors out at the plant overnight. This steeplecab motor was built by Westinghouse in 1921. Because of how big freight cars have become in the last 100 years, this engine and 600 volts is only powerful enough to pull four loaded grain hoppers at a time out of the plant and up the short grade to the mainline. |
